Daily Chinese News

Singapore's official announcements, rewritten as HSK 4–5 Chinese reading lessons — one news item per lesson. Each one has a six-paragraph passage, eight key words (pinyin, English gloss, Chinese explanation and an example sentence, all with audio), a seven-question quiz, and the whole passage read aloud in a female or a male voice. Free, no sign-up, and it works on a phone.

Written for secondary students, international-school students and adult learners. Each lesson uses only facts from the official source, with the Chinese newly written and pitched at HSK 4–5; every lesson lists its sources and the date they were read. For policy matters, go by the official announcements of the current year.

How to use these lessons

  1. Read the whole passage once without looking anything up.
  2. Read it again, tapping the orange underlined words for explanations and examples.
  3. Take the seven-question quiz and read the explanation for anything you got wrong.
  4. Finally, read along with the audio, paying attention to pauses and tone.

Secondary students can treat these as oral-exam material: the topics — transport, the environment, school life, technology — are exactly what comes up in oral conversation, and the words and sentence patterns transfer directly.
