How Singapore Schools Tackle Bullying and Support Students: A Chinese Reading Lesson

In April 2026, Singapore's Ministry of Education announced the results of its Comprehensive Action Review against Bullying: four areas and nine measures, explained further in a parliamentary reply on 5 May. From 2027 every school will have an online reporting platform, all schools are to put in place their own anti-bullying policy by the end of 2026, and MOE will strengthen support for school counsellors.

This lesson rewrites the official material as a six-paragraph Chinese reading passage for HSK 4–5 learners. You will meet 欺凌 (to bully), 措施 (measure), 举报 (to report), 政策 (policy), 加强 (to strengthen), 辅导员 (counsellor), 关怀 (to care for) and 求助 (to ask for help) — useful vocabulary for school-life topics in secondary Chinese oral exams. Sources: MOE's parliamentary reply of 5 May 2026 and Committee of Supply speech of 3 March 2026; information as of 14 October 2026.

Each key word comes with pinyin, an English gloss, a Chinese explanation and an example sentence, all with audio. Seven quiz questions with explanations check your understanding, and the passage can be played in a female or male voice. Please follow the latest announcements from MOE and your school. If you or a classmate is struggling, tell a teacher, school counsellor or parent.
