Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS Link Now Targeted for February 2027: A Chinese Reading Lesson
On 2 October 2026, Singapore’s Land Transport Authority and Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport issued a joint news release: passenger service on the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link is now targeted for February 2027. This is a target, not a confirmed opening date, and it remains subject to independent safety certification and final regulatory approvals.
This lesson rewrites the release as a short Chinese reading passage for HSK 4–5 learners, in six paragraphs. You will meet 预计 (to expect), 开通 (to open for use), 基础设施 (infrastructure), 测试 (to test), 试运行 (to run on a trial basis), 认证 (certification), 批准 (to approve) and 取决于 (to depend on), and see the steps that must happen before opening. The release does not mention fares or frequency, so the lesson does not cover them.
Each of the eight key words has pinyin, an English gloss, a Chinese explanation and an example sentence, all with audio. Seven quiz questions with explanations check your understanding, and the passage can be played in a female or male voice. Information is as of 9 October 2026; please follow the latest announcements from both governments and the operator.
