HSK is an internationally recognised Chinese exam. It aims to assess the Chinese standard of non-native speakers. The certificate given could be used as a proof of one’s Chinese level officially.

It is the best proof of your Chinese ability if you wish to work in China. People with higher HSK level could get more points in China’s work permit assessment system, which means higher probability of getting a work permit. 

HSK is also a compulsory criteria for China’s university admission. HSK grade 4 is the minimum requirement for degree level study. For master degree, HSK level 5 is required. Some top universities in Beijing requires students to meet HSK Grade 6. 

Higher HSK grades could grant one higher opportunity to obtain a government scholarship in China. It is also compulsory for students studying Chinese degree.
