Yes — a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of S$20 applies to every new student, plus a S$100 deposit. The deposit is fully refundable when you stop lessons, as long as you give one month's notice.

In-person group classes at our Bugis centre have a maximum of 6 students per class, so every child gets meaningful attention. Online group classes are capped at 20 students. 1-to-1 tuition is available at every level, both online and in person.

All our tutors are university graduates with at least 6 years of local teaching experience, and every tutor is bilingual. Being bilingual matters in practice — if your child doesn't yet have enough Chinese vocabulary to ask a question, they can ask in English and still get a full explanation.

Yes. From Primary 1 to 4, Higher Chinese students learn in the same class as regular Chinese students, with extra supplementary material provided in class — this gives your child time to see how they take to the extra material before committing further. From Primary 5 onward, we run dedicated Higher Chinese classes, since the two syllabuses diverge significantly at that stage (wider vocabulary, harder comprehension passages, and compositions that are both longer and use different question formats). The oral exam itself is the same as regular Chinese at this stage, with no separate Higher Chinese oral component (this applies to Primary / PSLE — at the secondary level it works differently, see below). We also teach Higher Chinese at the secondary level, with availability varying by year — please contact us to confirm for your child's specific level. One difference to know: at the secondary level, the Higher Chinese oral exam is not the same as regular Chinese — it follows a video clip with a 2-minute oral presentation and a follow-up Q&A with the teacher, rather than the reading-aloud-plus-conversation format used for regular Chinese.

This is a very common situation, and it's part of why our tutors teach bilingually — your child can ask questions in English when needed. We also give primary school students access to a library of over 2,000 Chinese stories (available about one month after enrolment) for reading and recording practice at home, which is especially useful for building listening and speaking skills outside class.

Tuition helps, but it's not the only factor. A 2024 study by Singapore's National Institute of Education, covering around 1,410 Primary 5 students across 24 schools, found that how often a family speaks Chinese at home predicts a child's motivation and results even more strongly than tuition hours alone. That's exactly why we built our story library — to give families an easy way to bring more Chinese into daily life at home, alongside structured lessons.

There's no single right age — it depends on your child's current level and school stage. We offer classes starting from preschool (K1–K2), including a dedicated "Ready for P1" class for K2 students preparing for Primary 1. If you're unsure, a free group trial class is a low-commitment way to see how your child responds before deciding.

This depends on your child's aptitude and interest, and MOE's own eligibility criteria — we'd recommend checking the latest MOE guidelines for exact rules, since these can change from year to year. What we can offer is a practical way to find out: because our Primary 1–4 Higher Chinese students learn alongside regular Chinese students with extra material, your child can try the additional content in a low-pressure setting before Primary 5, when a dedicated class becomes necessary.

We start a full review of Primary 4–6 vocabulary in June, since most marks are lost on words students only half-know, not on technique. Alongside this, students review useful phrases by oral topic, which double up for compositions. In the June holidays and July, we move into focused topic revision plus timed mock exams under actual exam conditions. Yes. Online group classes (up to 20 students) are available, and 1-to-1 tuition can be taken either online or in person, at every level.
