When the MRT Breaks Down on Exam Day: What Candidates Should Do — A Chinese Reading Lesson
The Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) advises national-exam candidates that if the MRT is widely disrupted on exam day, they should not panic: inform the school or exam centre, keep travelling to the exam venue, and they will get the full duration of the paper as long as they arrive before the paper ends.
This lesson rewrites the official guidance as a short Chinese reading passage for HSK 4–5 learners, in six paragraphs. You will meet vocabulary such as 中断 (disruption), 通知 (to notify), 赶往 (to hurry to), 接驳 (shuttle connection), 凭证 (proof), 报到 (to report in) and 指定 (designated), and learn how the rules differ for papers held at a centralised exam centre, and which seven details to give when reporting. The part of the guidance for PSLE candidates is not covered.
Each of the eight key words has pinyin, an English gloss, a Chinese explanation and an example sentence, all with audio. Seven quiz questions with explanations check your understanding, and the passage can be played in a female or male voice. Information is as of 5 October 2026; always follow the latest notice from your school and SEAB.
