How Singapore Is Protecting Children Online: A Chinese Reading Lesson
On 4 July 2026 Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information announced new steps to protect children and teenagers online. Its 2025 survey found that over 81% of parents worry about their children seeing content not suitable for their age, while only 37% feel confident guiding their children's online habits.
This lesson rewrites the official material as a six-paragraph Chinese reading passage for HSK 4–5 learners. You will read about what is already in place, such as age assurance in designated app stores from 1 April 2026 and the Online Safety Commission, which began operating in June 2026, and about plans that have no announced dates yet. Key words: 调查 (survey), 关注 (to be concerned about), 保障 (to safeguard), 审核 (to check and verify), 限制 (to restrict), 委员会 (committee), 计划 (plan), 平台 (platform). Information as of 14 October 2026.
Each key word comes with pinyin, an English gloss, a Chinese explanation and an example sentence, all with audio. Seven quiz questions with explanations check your understanding, and the passage can be played in a female or male voice, which makes it useful listening and reading-comprehension practice for secondary school Chinese students. Please follow the latest official announcements.
