How Many People Were Penalised for Vaping in Singapore? A Chinese Reading Lesson

On 11 August 2026 Singapore's Ministry of Health and Health Sciences Authority released the latest vaping enforcement data: from 1 April to 30 June 2026, 2,428 people were penalised for using or possessing vaporisers, an average of 809 cases a month, about 30% lower than the 1,219 cases a month between June and August 2025.

This lesson rewrites the press release as a six-paragraph Chinese reading passage for HSK 4–5 learners. You will read about the Tobacco and Vaporisers Control Act, enforcement at checkpoints and online, how schools handle student cases, and where people who want to quit can get help. Key words: 处罚 (to penalise), 违反 (to violate), 执法 (to enforce the law), 查获 (to seize), 供应 (to supply), 转介 (to refer), 辅导 (counselling), 戒除 (to give up a habit). Information as of 22 October 2026.

Each key word comes with pinyin, an English gloss, a Chinese explanation and an example sentence, all with audio. Seven quiz questions with explanations check your understanding, and the passage can be played in a female or male voice, which makes it useful listening and reading-comprehension practice for secondary school Chinese students. Please follow the latest official announcements.
